The Department of Finance and Accounting is a research and teaching unit that integrates research, education, and collaboration with the socio-economic community in response to contemporary challenges in economic theory and practice. The Department's research activities and practical analyses focus on finance and accounting in a broad sense, specifically accounting and financial reporting, management accounting, economic and financial analysis, the finances of enterprises, households, and local government units, the operation and investment of financial markets, organizational controlling, and more. The Department's team combines diverse specializations, enabling a comprehensive perspective on financial processes occurring in various types of organizations.

The Department's research profile encompasses all research related to financial management and the organization of the financial and accounting system within organizations. It specifically covers topics such as: new areas of financial analysis in enterprises, the profitability of an organization's tangible and intangible assets, company valuation and analysis of the factors that shape it, the assessment of the effectiveness of tangible and financial investments, and the financial aspects of household budget management. The Department also develops research on consumer behavior in the face of digital finance and a changing market environment. This broad range of topics allows for the integration of rational (homo economicus) and behavioral (homo behavioralis) perspectives in the analysis of the financial condition of organizations and households.

The Department's teaching profile reflects its research interests and combines academic foundations with practical market competencies. It includes, among others, introduction to accounting and finance, accounting, financial planning, capital markets, financial analysis, corporate financial management, business planning, controlling, capital group accounting, business performance and risk assessment, and enterprise value management. The Department emphasizes the development of students' practical skills in business analytics, corporate accounting and reporting, business plan development, company valuation, capital investments, and more. Research and teaching activities are complemented by numerous student-engaged initiatives, including the annual Economic Picnic, organized with the active participation of students from the PROFIT Financial Management Science Club, and the cyclical nationwide scientific conference "Value in Business." Both students and graduates of financial studies (Finance and Accounting, Accounting and Controlling) at the Faculty of Management are highly regarded on the local and regional job market, and the profile of studies and program content have been appreciated by a large group of distinguished representatives of the socio-economic environment who actively support both students and employees of the Department.
