The Department of Information and Business Processes is an academic unit integrating research, teaching, and cooperation with the socio-economic environment in response to the challenges of digital transformation. Its activity focuses on the design, analysis, and optimization of information and business processes, combining perspectives from management, information technologies, and social sciences. This interdisciplinary approach enables comprehensive understanding of how information flows and processes shape organizational performance and innovation.

The research profile of the Department encompasses key areas related to process-oriented management and digitalization. Core interests include business process modelling and automation, particularly robotic process automation (RPA), management information systems, ERP and database systems, cybersecurity, and data flow organization. The Department also develops research on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, the Internet of Things, virtual reality, and simulation techniques, as well as intelligent systems based on Design Thinking and Lean Thinking.

In parallel, the Department addresses managerial and socio-economic aspects of information and business processes. Research includes entrepreneurship, regional development, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and responsible innovation, alongside human resource management, organizational behavior, ergonomics, safety culture, and organizational resilience. This integrated perspective allows for analysing processes from technological, managerial, and social viewpoints.

The teaching profile reflects this interdisciplinary and process-oriented focus. Courses include information and communication technologies, robotic process automation, and IT applications in finance, accounting, and controlling, with emphasis on practical competencies in analysing and improving business processes.

The Department also engages in practical activities such as 3D prototyping of business solutions, exploration of business models, and implementation of process automation, contributing to innovation and knowledge transfer in the socio-economic environment.
