The Department of Management is an academic unit that integrates research, teaching, and cooperation with the socio-economic environment in response to contemporary challenges related to the functioning and development of organizations. Its activities focus on management in the broad sense, encompassing entrepreneurship, organizational development, management methods and techniques, leadership, change management, information and decision-making processes, the organization of teamwork, employees’ personal and professional development, personal branding, as well as the psychological and existential dimensions of human organizational activity.

The Department brings together staff representing complementary areas of expertise, which fosters an interdisciplinary approach to management issues in business, public, and social organizations.

The research profile of the Department of Management covers a broad spectrum of issues that reflect both classical and contemporary currents in management science. The Department’s key research interests focus on the determinants of the development of individual and organizational entrepreneurship, as well as cooperation between academia, business, and public authorities. Important areas also include issues related to the analysis, evaluation, and improvement of organizational management, the application of contemporary management concepts and methods, as well as leadership, the development of managerial competencies, ethics, teamwork, and personal branding. In addition, the Department conducts research on digitalization processes and the development of digital competencies, which makes it possible to analyze management processes from strategic, organizational, social, and technological perspectives.

The Department’s teaching profile reflects the broad scope of its research interests and is oriented toward both academic foundations and practical managerial competencies. The educational content offered by the Department includes, among other things, organization management, the diagnosis, design, and improvement of management systems, change management, process management, and e-business. Important topics also include entrepreneurship, including the planning, operation, and development of business ventures, intrapreneurship, and entrepreneurial management. The Department also develops competencies related to managing social potential, organizational culture, organizational behavior, communication in teams, personal and professional development, self-presentation, rhetoric, and creative thinking. This profile is complemented by content related to diversity in management, ethics and business etiquette, the resilience of employees, leaders, teams, and organizations, as well as the psychological aspects of leadership and teamwork.

An important area of the Department of Management’s activity is cooperation with its environment. The high and diverse competencies of its staff make the Department a valuable partner for entrepreneurs, public authorities, non-governmental organizations, and universities in Poland and abroad. Members of the Department engage in expert activity, participate in the work of commissions and committees, and serve as reviewers of academic and development projects, thereby strengthening the practical and social dimension of the unit’s activities.

The Department’s staff are also involved in developing students’ practical skills in creativity, interpersonal communication, personal branding, and combining business effectiveness with empathy and a strong work culture. Teaching activities are further supported by initiatives involving students, including the Human Centered Management student research club, which helps students gain practical experience through events, business meetings, science festivals, and cooperation with external partners.
